TRAI suggests Rs 3,050 crore penalty on Airtel, Idea, Vodafone for no PoI to JIO

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has suggested to impose Rs.50 crore penalty per circle on Airtel, Vodafone, Idea for violating the license norms and denying interconnection to Reliance Jio because such act by them in competition caused users to suffer a lot.

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has suggested to impose Rs.50 crore penalty per circle on Airtel, Vodafone, Idea for violating the license norms and denying interconnection to Reliance Jio because such act by them in competition caused users to suffer a lot.

The total number of circles is 61 which includes 21 of Airtel, 19 of Idea and 21 of Vodafone, bringing the total amount to Rs 3,050 crore.


Know what is points of interconnection

Well, In order to make calls to any other network, the receiver network has to provide Point of interconnections so that calls can be established. Seeing the competition from Reliance Jio, all rivals like Airtel, Idea and Vodaphone disallowed to allow incoming calls and missions of users were getting "All lines in this route are busy" and it made JIO users suffer a lot.

As per TRAI policy, this act is against the interest of public and hence the JOINT PENALTY was imposed on these RIVALS.
