Here's Why These Employees of Bihar Are Wearing Helmets In Office!

by -

Looks like the trusty headgear is not just meant for people who ride motorbikes. People at the Government office in Areraj, Champaran district, Bihar are using helmets for a completely different reason.

Why you ask? The roof of their office building is so rickety, that it come crashing down on them any minute. The solution? Just wear helmets to work every single day!

Along with the employees, even people visiting the block office prefer to cover their heads before entering into its premises.

According to reports, Bihar government’s building construction department declared the office dangerous last year, but despite that people continue to work there. Lalan and Parvez Ahmad who work in the land records department of the office told News18 “many members of the office staff have been injured when parts of the roof fell on them”.

“This is quite an old building. Walls and the roof of the building are in a very bad shape. Water starts trickling the moment it rains. The roof can cave in any day. Since we can’t be absent from our duties, we all decided to wear helmets,” they said.

Despite the buildings precarious state, the officials don’t take a day off. Now, that's what you call dedication. According to reports, people from almost 20 villages come to this office for getting issuing birth and death certificates and for getting benefits of government run welfare schemes. Given that a warning has already been let out, how difficult is to fix the problem? They say prevention is better than cure, but officials seem to have completely missed that point in this case.
