Meet These 10 Indian V.I.P Prisoners Who Are Receiving Special Treatment

by -

For any average Indian convict, the life inside a prison can't be called hunky dory. Neither can it be called a party or a walk-through-the-breeze. But for VVIPs, more often than not, the scenario takes a 180-degree turn.

Special treatment exposes the vast discrimination between the infamous and the 'regular' convicts. For the VVIPs, the prison is not a cage with closed doors but a freedom to choose preferential treatment. While the not-so-famous criminals rot away in jail, these moguls of crime continue to command respect.

1. Gurmeet Ram Rahim

After being convicted of rape, the Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim was lodged in an air-conditioned room in the prison near Rohtak town, police sources said. They further added that the disgraced baba continued to receive special treatment from Haryana's Manohar Lal Khattar government, who arranged for a helicopter and helped Rahim in availing amenities meant for police officials.

Rahim's daughter, Honeypreet, being a woman was allowed to accompany him with suitcases and bags after he was taken into custody in Panchkula. Even after being convicted, he was shown full respect by a section of officers.

Sasikala is currently lodged in Parappana Agrahara central jail, Bengaluru since her conviction in February in a disproportionate assets case alongside two of her relatives, VN Sudhakaran and Elavarasi. She is serving a four-year prison term.

Telgi was convicted in 2007 and was handed 30 years of rigorous imprisonment.
