Sidharth Malhotra and Sonakshi Sinha might not be romantically paired opposite each other in the remake of Yash Chopra's 1969 murder mystery, Ittefaq, but that hasn't dampened our excitement of watching these two actors share screen space for the first time.

The modern-day adaptation has Sidharth stepping into Rajesh Khanna's shoes whereas Sonakshi will be reprising Nanda's role. The latest development that we hear is that the film is scheduled to roll in the first week of February.

A Mumbai Mirror report quoted a source saying, "The script and dates have finally been locked and the film will be shot in a start-to-finish, 60-day schedule in India as well as international locations." Ittefaq was the remake of the British film, Signpost to Murder (1964. It revolved around an artist who is arrested for the murder of his wife whom he had thrown off in a moment of frustrated rage when she distracts him from his painting and stormed out of the house.

While the original film had no songs and most of the action happened in the course of one night, the new version will feature songs and a new climax. Earlier in an interview Sidharth was quoted saying, "The premise will be different although the gist is the same. It is still about one night but we have modified the script. Otherwise, everyone knows what it's all about and there would be no fun. All the characters here are motivated differently." He had also revealed that the run-time of the film will be of shorter duration as they plan to make it in a very thrilling manner.
